Message from Our Commander:
I want to take this opportunity to welcome you, and say thank you for visiting our Woodrow Wilson DAV Chapter #1 website. I am Kenneth Bowling, Commander of WW DAV Chapter #1. I would first, like to say thank you to all my comrades for your confidence in electing me as your Commander for the upcoming year. I along with my comrades are dedicated solely for the purpose of: empowering veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity working toward the goal of improving the quality of life for every veteran we serve.
Our chapter is filled with dedicated past commanders, officers, and veterans that are committed to forging partnerships with the Veterans Administration and business of this community.
Woodrow Wilson DAV Chapter #1 is a service organization and we strive to provide the best service we can with professionalism and confidence for every veteran and their families.
Our DAV has a mission of helping eligible veterans receive their rightful benefits and services that they earned through their sacrifices for their country. As your new Commander, I hope to inspire others to be more involved in activities that benefit veterans. Again, thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve this great organization.
I look forward to seeing you at our monthly DAV Chapter meetings!
Kenneth Bowling, Commander of Woodrow Wilson DAV Chapter # 1
We are dedicated to a single purpose: empowering veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity.
The DAV is the most long-lasting veterans advocacy and assistance group in this country. However, Woodrow Wilson Chapter # 1, has never wavered in its core mission to fulfill our promises to the men and women who served. We invite veterans men and women, young and old, to join us, as we stand up for those veterans who risked it all when they stood up for us, our country, and our ideals.
What Do We Do:
Our highly-trained certified service officers (CSO’s) provide free, professional assistance to veterans of all generations in obtaining VA and other government benefits earned through service. These CSOs provide counseling on all veterans’ benefits including disability compensation, health care, pension, survivors’ benefits, employment rights, education and more. Our CSO’s also help veterans assemble evidence needed to support claims, build their cases, and prepare forms and briefs.
We fight for the rights of ill and injured veterans on Capital Hill.
We provide transportation for veterans who need help getting to and from medical appointments.
We link service-injured veterans to job training and job assistance programs.
We give emergency assistance to ill and injured veterans.
We help homeless veterans by connecting veterans to medical care, benefits counseling and job training.
We build better lives for veterans and their family.
